🌵 It’s #DesertificationAndDroughtDay — and no, it’s not just about dry land and dusty statistics.

Today, in Bogotá, Colombia, world leaders, Indigenous voices, and civil society are uniting around a powerful mission: restoring our land to secure food, water, peace, and sustainable development for future generations.

With the global population heading toward 10 billion by 2050, restoring degraded land isn’t just “nice to have”—it’s absolutely essential.

This year’s theme, “Restore the Land. Unlock the Opportunities,” led by @UNCCD and hosted by Colombia, reminds us that land restoration pays off. Every US$1 invested returns up to US$30 in ecosystem and livelihood benefits. Now that’s ROI worth rooting for.

The goal? Restore 1.5 billion hectares of land by 2030. That means investing about US$1 billion per day. Ambitious? Yes. But the alternative is far costlier.
